With only less than six months left for the completion of the term of the present in Loksabha 15{+t}{+h}. On may 31,2014,the lower house already has 11 vacancies, including two members, who were is qualified for getting conviction in a corruption case.

The election commission will not fill these vacancies as it is not mandatory for EC to fill them up, if the date on which the vacancy is caused, is less than a year before the actual expiry of the term of the house(applicable to legislative assembly).Due to these developments, the effective strength of present Loksabha has come down to 534(including the speaker)against the total strength of 545(including two Anglo-Indian nominated members).The strength of the congress has come down to 204 and that of the BJP to 112.Remaining 229 seats are of regional parties which has a good scope to get good scores compared to BJP and Congress in next parliamentary election.
