How To Reach Kurnool
Kurnool is a district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in the southern part of India. It is the largest city of the area serving as the administrative hub of the state with a population of more than 50,00,000 approximately. Kurnool used to be the capital of Andhra Pradesh from the year 1953 to 1956 and it acts as a major location for insurance firms and banking companies.
Kurnool is located in the southern banks of rivers Handri and Tungabhadra, in the west-central part of Andhra Pradesh. It is the largest of the four districts of Andhra Pradesh while the other three are Kadapa, Anantapur and Chittore. This region earlier was under the influence of the Hindu King, Sri Krishnadevaraya.
How To Reach :
By Road/Bus : Kurnool town is well-connected with major cities like Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. There are buses, trains and taxi services to Kurnool from these cities and other parts of Andhra Pradesh. By road, the NH-7 connects Kurnool to Hyderabad, Anantapur and Bangalore. The NH-18 clubs with NH-7 at Kurnool- Nandyal- Kadapa junction. There are plenty of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) and Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses that ply between Kurnool and many places in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka respectively. The APSRTC has its service from Imlibun Bus Station and there are many private buses from here that regularly ply to Kurnool.
By Plane/Air : The nearest airport is the Rajeev Gandhi International airport at Shamshabad, which is about 180 kms from Kurnool and takes about 3 hours to reach the town. Plenty of taxis are available from Hyderabad, which is the best option to travel to Kurnool.
By Train/Rail : The Hyderabad – Bangalore railway line passes through Kurnool and there are frequent passenger trains to Hyderabad, Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Tirupati, Guntur, Jaipur, Shirdi and Hubli. From Kurnool town, the other important railway stations are at Nandyal, Adoni and Dhone junction. There are trains that travel from many other parts of the country and state to these nearby junctions.
